New Title

I am pretty sure that my boss is taking me out of the office and putting me in sales full time. My new business cards? Jr. Account Executive.

Isn't that cute?
And just like that, x emerges.

Because I got High, because I got high, Because I got Hi-gh...

The first time I ever got high was when I was 16 and a junior in high school. My high school love, David, smoked me out one day when we were hanging out at our friend Adam's house. I didn't think that it was going to work at first because nothing happened for the longest time. Then, I noticed how funny the little dough bubbles on my pizza were. Then I thought that my toes had disappeared and I had to lay on the couch with my feet up in the air so I could see them.

Then I realized I was high.

David and Adam started asking me questions and I would think of the answer in my head, but didn't feel like answering them. I would just giggle. I didn't speak for over two hours, which is a total feat for me.

That was nine years ago. In that time, I have maybe gotten high 15 times. I would much rather drink.

This weekend, in the desert, my boyfriend's cousins were there. Their whole camp was awesome, a perfect contrast to the family drama and stress that was going on at my camp. Beginning at about two in the afternoon, every time I walked by someone's trailer, they would hand me a drink. We would drink beer, do shots, hang out. I was buzzing hard for most of the afternoon and evening.

Then someone brought out the bubbler. I was feeling GREAT so when they offered me a hit I said," What the hell?"

OH. MAN.

So I am a total lightweight to begin with and I have never been stoned and drunk at the same time. I was sitting on the jamb of the open driver side door of this guy's truck. He was in the driver seat and my cousin and her friend were sharing the passenger seat. All of sudden, I tapped Roberta (cousin's friend) on the shoulder and whispered "Hold on!" as I grabbed her hand. "Why?" she whispered back.

"Because we are going to fall off!" I had one arm linked through the steering wheel and was trying to get my feet off the ground so I wouldn't fall off the carousel that the truck was on. It wasn't a fast spin or a spin that was making me dizzy, we were just spinning. Round and round.

I thought I was going to fall over and make a fool out of myself, so I went to bed.

So that was the best experience of the weekend. What about you?

Today is my Friday, thanks to the coolest boss in the world. He decided we needn't stress ourselves out tomorrow trying to work and get ready for the desert. AND he bought reinforcements for this afternoon in the form of Jim Beam and Coors Light. I love my job.

Spent last week on the road, which is why the care and maintenance of my bloghas been remiss. I did sell almost $4000 worth of merchandise though! Not bad for a greenpea salesgirl. I get Jr. Account Executive on my business cards though.

Took Meg to Venice Beach with me on Friday. We rented a beach cruisers and delivered boxes up and down the strip. It was cool.

HammieLove's sis and nephews are in town for Thanksgiving. Six is a lot of people for my little apartment. My cats are refusing to come out from under the bed.

Please send good thoughts and vibes to our friend Bart's daughter, Cynthia. She was thrown out of a dune buggy that rolled in Mexico and it rolled over her. She broke her back (no paralysis, thank God), lost a kidney, her spleen, and broke some ribs. Needless to say, she is lucky to be alive and pretty fucked up. Any thoughts and prayers would be appreciated. :)

Everyone have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Bugs

Just got back from a three day lobster hunting expedition off the coast of Santa Barbara. I am exhausted, to say the least.

We had such a wonderful time though. We took the train to Santa Barbara on Thursday night. Got hosed by a taxi driver who turned a 1/4 of a mile ride into a $20 tab. Jerk. Loaded onto the boat and HammieLove headed off to the bunk right away, since he had been up since four in the AM for work. I stayed up and hung out with the guys and drank until about 1 in the morning.

Friday AM - we were off the coast of Santa Barbara Island, which is part of the Channel Islands. We suited up right away and hit the water. What beautiful scenery! The reef was covered with bright purple sea urchings. There were HUGE sea stars and really cuty sea slugs. HL and I were looking for lobsters and we actually saw a couple but they were too far back under rocks to grab.

We did three dives on Friday. We found one scallop but no lobsters, although I did hit my face on a sea urchin (OW!) trying to dig a bug(that's what lobsters are called -- bugs) out of its hole.

I slept real well on Friday night so Saturday, I was rarin' to go! HL had a really bad headache, so he only got two dives in. I ALMOST caught a lobster and it totally got me excited to dive, so every chance I had, I was in the water. I ended up doing SIX dives in one day (that's a lot). It paid off though because on my last dive, which was a night dive, I descended to 35 feet and the first thing I saw were two bugs sitting out on the sand! I chased one around a little bit and SLAM! grabbed him. My dive buddy and I got so excited while we were trying to put him in the bag that we actually shot up to the surface!

When we were swimming back to the boat, someone called out "Did you get any?" "Yes! I got one!" I screamed and the WHOLE. BOAT. CHEERED. It was so cool! I felt like I had just scored a touchdown. Everyone patted me on the back and congratulated me. It was awesome.

We got in two more dives on Sunday before we had to go back to port. On our way back, the captain steered us through this HUGE pod of porpoises. He drove around in circles while all the dolphins surfed the wake of the boat. It was a beautiful sight.

We got pictures and I will post some when I get them developed.

I am afraid to say that I have been neglecting my blog for my My Space. I have been trying to blog at both but work has been so busy, I am failing!! :)

I have been on the road for 5 of the past seven days making sales calls. My boss and I went to Hollywood and Venice on Monday. I have noticed that even though I am a Southern California native, there are many touristy things that I have never done. For example, I had never seen the Walk of Fame until last week. Granted, I was at Hollywood Blvd and Vine (which is a really, um, interesting part of town) but I still got to see some of the stars.

Venice Beach is just cool. That's all I have to say about that.

HammieLove and I are leaving for a three day scuba trip this afternoon. We are going lobster hunting off the Santa Barbara coast. It is going to be awesome!
